Our research group is interested in using mass spectrometry as a central tool to understand neurodegenerative disorders. Specifically, we work on Niemann-Pick Type C, a fatal, progressive neurodegenerative disorder affecting children. We couple proteomic, lipidomic and MS imaging techniques with traditional biochemical and molecular biology tools in hopes to ultimately understand what drives the neurodegeneration and to develop new strategies for therapeutics.
